You should probably start a new thread, but it doesn't matter what server you're using, Adobe *ONLY* supports saving directly to a network share if you are using their VersionCue productThe issues, the file corruption, the data loss.

I have not tried this fix in our environment yet, but may soon since we have swapped out / re-imaged a problem user's mac pro 3 times now. Upon re-installing OSX (on itself) to "repair" whatever adobe may have changed reliably fixed the issue.

The backstory for this is Kurt noticed after testing an obcene amount of times, that upon installing adobe's product on a fresh OSX installation it starts breaking icon files. That is a great catch! I overlooked that one. I wonder if some of the thumbnail issues could be due to a corrupt SQLlite database for the thumbnails? What is interesting is /private/var/folders/CX/CXfEN29QGWq+RcH2FgSVik+++TI/-Caches-/com.appl e.QuickLook.thumbnailcache/īut is that from thumbnails being added, or the OS resetting the database? THough after spending way too much time reading through this 10 page thread: I found this interesting nugget of information in post 244 by Kurt Lang:

Work in a mostly mac agency office with about ~30 users running CS6, seem to get the photoshop failure to write to windows smb server around once a day sometimes more. "Adobe Technical Support only supports using Photoshop and Adobe Bridge on a local hard disk." Think about it: Photoshop is coded to expect the kind of latency involved in locally-attached storage and not at all the kinds of delays that can occur when trying save (for example) what can be extremely large files over a network connection. End of story, anything else is simply not officially supported. You should probably start a new thread, but it doesn't matter what server you're using, Adobe *ONLY* supports saving directly to a network share if you are using their VersionCue product (discontinued as of CS 5 ) "When you want to save an Illustrator file to a network or removable drive, Adobe recommends you first save the file to an internal hard disk, and then close the file and use the Finder to copy the closed file to the external or network drive, or save the file to the network using Adobe Version Cue."ġ0.9 will attempt to use SMB2 by default, you can force the client to use smb1 by connecting viaīut that won't change Adobe's lack of support for this.Adobe only supports this if you are using Adobe Version Cue.

Cue a big buzzer sound: Samba is NOT used by Mac OS X for client connections to a cifs/smb (Windows) server or Samba server.Īs for working directly off of a fileshare from any client - Windows or Mac - with Adobe files. This keeps coming up and there's just too much misinformation flying about.
